Ladies and Gentlemen, please meet the Ecological and Economical Traffic Light Concept from Damjan Stankovic. It's a traffic light. The kind of traffic light you see every morning, every afternoon and sometimes in between, or during the evenings. Depending on your travelling patterns. It's got a red light, a yellow light and also a green light, just like you would expect. Normal huh? So what's the deal?

The deal is that it has a progress bar! That's it. That's the deal. And it's AWESOME! Oh, it also won a RedDot Design Award.

Infosthetics.com claims all kinds of environmental benefits (who doesn't?), but they are to be honest, well, stupid. It's not the point in my mind. In my mind, it looks SO cool! Oh, and it also lets people know when the light is going to change, exactly. And that's cool!

Okay, we can also speak endlessly about how this is a step towards integrating the design patterns we see and live with on our computers with the real world, which makes sense and brings us a few little steps closer to that future-world utopia we are all so patiently waiting for. But that's a long discussion, and is it really necesary for us all to get into such a long debate on a wonderful Wednesday morning?

Didn't think so either. Kudos to you Damjan, for taking something that worked, and making it Awesome, Brilliant and cool. And for keeping it simple. Respect.

P.S. This dude is full of lekker ideas for taking current things and making it better and cooler. Well worth to check out his site.
